If you're comparing the Postpaid Electricity Bill vs Smart Meter usage graph and it does not tally, it may be due to the following reasons:

  • Reason 1 - Meter Usage Decimal Carryover:
EasyRenz uses a whole-number electricity usage for postpaid electricity bill calculations. To keep your monthly statements straightforward, we exclude decimal places from the immediate bill and carry them forward.

If your actual consumption for the month is 15.52 kWh, your bill will only reflect 15 kWh.

    • The Carryover: The remaining 0.52 kWh isn't lost; it is stored in the system.

    • The Accumulation: This 0.52 kWh will be added to your usage in the following month.

    • The Trigger: The system will continue to carry over these fractions until they accumulate to a full 1 kWh, at which point it will be added to your current bill.

    Important:

    When are Decimals Finally Billed?
To ensure every bit of electricity used is eventually paid for, the system and accounts for all remaining decimals in two specific scenarios:

    1. Tenant Checkout: When a tenant moves out, a final bill is generated that includes all accumulated decimal usage.

    2. Meter Unlink: If a meter is unlinked from the unit, all accumulated decimal amounts are finalized.

  • Reason 2 - Discrepancy Between Usage Graphs and Final Bills:
It is common to notice a small difference between the total daily consumption shown on your dashboard graphs and the final calculated amount on a postpaid bill. This is due to the specific "cut-off" times used for billing.

    A. Usage Graphs (The Full Picture)

The graphs in the EasyRenz app are designed to show your consumption patterns over a 24-hour cycle. They display the total electricity used from the start of the day until the end.

    B. Postpaid Bills (The Precise Cut-off)

Unlike the graphs, a postpaid bill is not always calculated based on a full 24-hour day. Instead, the billing calculation stops the moment a specific event occurs:

    • At Checkout: If a tenant checks out at 2:00 PM, the bill only calculates usage up until that time. The graph, however, may still show data for the usages after that move-out.

    • At Meter Unlink: If a meter is unlink from a unit midway, the bill reflects usage only until the point of unlink.

  • Reason 3: Meter Linked Mid-Tenancy Or Backdate Check In

If a smart meter is linked to a room after the tenancy has already started, the system can only begin tracking electricity usage from the exact moment the link is established.

    How it Works

    • Tracking Start Date: The system does not "backdate" electricity usage. It only starts accumulating data once the meter is officially linked to the rental in the system.

    • The Gap: Any electricity consumed between the official start date and the Meter Link date will not be included.

      Example Scenario:

    • Tenancy Starts: 1st April

    • Meter Linked: 15th April

Result: Your usage billing will only show consumption starting from 15th April. The usage from 1st April to 14th April will be missing from the system's automated calculation.

      Important:

If you need to charge for the period before the meter was linked, you may need to add a manual "One-Time Charge" to the tenant's first invoice based on a manual reading.

During the meter-to-unit linkage process, you will be asked if you want to reset the usage.

      1. To charge the current tenant: Choose not to reset the usage. The system will then include all previous readings in the current tenant's billing.

      2. To start fresh: Choose to reset the usage if you do not want the current tenant to be billed for any consumption that occurred before the link was established.

  • Reason 4 - Meter Disconnection:
If your smart meter stays offline for an extended period, the system cannot retrieve your electricity readings.

    Important:

Missing Data: While the meter is disconnected, any electricity used during those days will not appear on your current billing cycle.

Automatic Sync: As soon as the meter is back online, it will send all the usage data from the offline period back to the system.

    Catch-up Charges:
    - Postpaid Mode: The missed usage will be automatically calculated and added to your next bill.
    -
Prepaid Mode: The cost for the offline usage will be deducted directly from your credit after the connection is restored.
